to much time on my hands
Started out as a rainy morning, but I was in a blind so decided to stick it out. Heard no gobbles from 5:45 till 8:55. Made 2 calls at 6 AM and made 2 calls at 8AM, no responses and like I said no gobbling, at 8:55 caught movement out of the corner of my eye and seen a large tom moving down the hill toward my hen decoy. He made one gobble and then disappeared behind some scrub, I pulled out the slate and gave it a couple of purrs oh so quietly, well that is when all heck broke loose. I had two gobblers that just went nuts and started to circle the decoy, in the meantime they must have set off every other tom in the vicinity as there was now gobbling from 100 yards, 500 yards and further......anyhow decided enough was enough and dropped this one at 9:05 after ten minutes of excitement.

18.5 pounds, one inch spurs and an 11 inch beard. Not my largest but certainly one of my favorites so far, two days of rain, so wont get back out till Saturday AM.
