Way to much free time!
yesterday while at the local bait store I noticed a paper on the counter which basiclly said in a nut shell that starting this season they will be collecting SSN when you get your lisenses not really sure why figure its another money wasting attempt by the state to collect child support. I pay mine so im not worried just wondering what every one thought about this

Why = Federal and State law.

I respect you for paying your support, but unfortunately there are a bunch of people who don't.

Why is the Division of Wildlife asking for my Social Security Number?
Ohio Division of Wildlife is required to collect Social Security numbers for the purpose of child support enforcement under the Federal Statute 42 U.S.C.A. 666 and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. DOW has no option but to comply with Federal and State laws.

What if I refuse to provide my Social Security number?

The Ohio Division of Wildlife cannot force you to provide your Social Security number, however under federal statute we cannot sell you a license.
