I took my son on his first hunt Saturday. Me had squirrels all around us but he just could not get calmed down enough to take the shot. Finally two of them came along about 15 yards out. One of them climbed up about 3' on a tree. He was able to get set and wham, a clean miss. He looks back at me and says, "UH this thing just kick me in the chest". The other squirrel hoped up on the same tree just on the other side of the tree. I thought that he may not want to shoot the gun again after it had kicked him. But he laid the hammer down on this one. I said you got it but I do not think that he even heard me because he was already handing me the gun and running to his first squirrel. I think that the pictures say it all.
Just enjoying the preparation.

I now know what my father meant when he said "I do not know who was more nervouse, Walter, me or the turkey." He said that after my second run in with turkeys. The turkey won but my son's squirrel did not. He is taking his squirrel tail to school Friday for show and tell. We asked his teacher if it was ok for him to bring it and she it is ok.
Just enjoying the preparation.
