to much time on my hands

Did anyone go out ? Did anyone find anything? I, alas, had way too much to do around the house to get out and down to my feeders today, hopefully one night this week !!!! Please give everyone an update if you got out and if you found anything. Pictures would be nice as well ......

Talked to neighbor in Morgan county and he enjoyed his first (black) morel dinner with his family tuesday. He said he generally doesn't find them this early. Another report from friend in Perry and he picked 40 nice blacks early this week. I've got the spots for the blondies but never have much luck with the blacks. Going anyway this weekend to scout for 2nd week turkey hunting. The blondies should be up then! A couple of last years pics to fire you shroomers up.http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz128/labrownbrook/turkeyandshrooms-1.jpghttp://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz128/labrownbrook/100_1738.jpg

Nice , please send me the GPS co-ordinates of where you found those please !!!!!! I too am headed to my spot this weekend, I have one 10 yard wide area that travels about 30 yards uphill that I always find the black ones growing in every year. Once I start finding them there I know my season is on !!!!!

Actually, those were found in an area about the size you describe. Last year, it just got hot too quick and didn't rain. Those were found before April 20th. All our other honey pots just didn't produce as well. It's amazing how that precious blend of correct temps and moisture must be there for a banner year. Trying to remember, but I think 4 or 5 years ago everything was perfect and we found them everythere. Areas that never produced before. I hope this year everything is in sync and to bag a gobbler just makes it a little sweeter. Those coordinates are....... Good Luck

Now Mike, you know what I would have to do to you if I gave you those coordinates. Being from Chilliothe, have you ever hit Cooper Hollow Wildlife area? I spent many years hunting grouse and turkeys there and we used to do pretty good with the shrooms also. Haven't been back sence we purchased land in Morgan. Always say I'm going to get back there but never make it.

I know right where it Cooper Hollow is, never really went that far south, but if I bag my bird early this year I would like nothing more than to stuff the freezer with shrooms for the year !!!!!
