Well, I was out last weekend barely above I70 around (springfield). And was battling some icing. I did the walk in a giant circle and push under,but little water movement had me out there every 30 mins or so clearing it out again. I wondered what other things work for you to keeping it open during the hunt.

Send your dog out for a swim, a swimmer decoy could be benificial also.
It's easier to beg for forgiveness, than to ask for permission.
